There’s a new telematics platform on the market that’s said to integrate telematic system functions into a single low-cost device. The platform supports GPS, dead reckoning, hands-free operation, noise reduction, echo cancellation, speech recognition, and text-to-speech features to announce directions or read SMS/email messages.
It also supports FM/MPX decoding, MP3/WMA decoding, physical or wireless bluetooth connectivity to mobile phones or other devices. It sounds like the real-time operating system might be propietary, but it does support Java 2 Micro Edition (J2METM) CLDC 1.1/MIDP 2.0.
The website says it’s low-cost, but I don’t see any prices.
