Many of the latest Himalaya Pocket PC Phones come with a read-only Extended ROM which means certain applications are forced to be installed on a hard reset and there is no easy way to uninstall unwanted or problematic applications. However, yesterday a poster on XDA-Developers.com has released a tool which will allow you to edit the ROM on your XDA II so as to remove unwanted applications or add your own applications to the Extended ROM even if it is read-only. This is a great way to have your “must-have” applications always available even after a hard reset.
