New MicroNav pointing device could offer better tactile navigation

Interlink Electronics has developed an interesting new type of pointing device designed for use in portable consumer electronics such as phones, PDAs, etc. The MicroNav technology seems to offer a similar interface to the mini-joysticks found on many laptop computers, but this should give you smoother control in a smaller footprint.

This might be quite nice if PDA manufactures could implement it in an area on the side of the PDA where my thumb would normally be located while holding it in one hand. Combine that with a better interface for one handed usage (buttons that can be pressed without rearranging your holding position), and Pocket PCs could become much more user friendly.
