While CoPilot Live has had the capability to re-route based on traffic conditions in Minnesota for a while, most GPS Navigation programs in the U.S.A. didn’t have this type of capability due to the lack of a standard traffic information tracking system that they could access. It sounds like that’s about to change, as Navigon has announced support for TMC capabilities in the US! TMC is a technology used in Europe to broadcast traffic information updates via FM radio to navigation systems. Now it seems Navigon will be able to use this in “major metropolitan areas in the United States.”
