With Pocket PC phones, normally you would go to the Messaging application when you want to send a text message or email since typing some one’s name in the “To” field quickly brings up the possible matches. On Windows Mobile Smartphones, that’s not so easy especially if you have to type those names with a numeric keypad. Instead, use the phone dialer from the home screen to find the contact you want to send a message to by typing the first few letters of her name. Then hit the right soft key to bring up the menu. Press the number 3 and you’ve got a new text message pre-addressed to that person.
Yes, the messaging address field should be as smart as the phone dialer, but it isn’t. It becomes more complicated if you want to send some one an email. I’m not sure if it’s faster to use the Phone dialer to find the contact, open her contact info, and then select the email button… or just bang out the name in the regular email “To” field using the T9 text input method.
Do you go to the Messaging application first, or search for Contacts first when sending emails or text messages in the Windows Mobile Smartphone OS?
