Once upon a time, back when high speed wireless internet was about 14 Kbs on my CDPD PCMCIA card modem attached to my iPAQ H3600, there was a nice little mobile website called Moviefone that let us elite wireless internet users find and purchase movie tickets while out on a dinner date or strolling through Central Park. Soon Moviefone stopped allowing ticket purchases through their mobile site for no apparent reason, and we were stuck with having to physically visit the theater early in order to get tickets.
Well, now the mobile movie ticket purchasing capability is back! MovieTickets.com now has a mobile version of their site that actually allows you to purchase tickets right from your mobile phone’s internet connection. The site is also accessible through Mobile MSN as well as the Live Search application. When you find a movie in Live Search, tap the “More Movie Info” link and you’ll get to a web page with showtimes and buy tickets links at the bottom.
Has anyone else been missing the movie ticket purchasing capability on Windows Mobile?
Edit: if MovieTickets Mobile doesn’t have tickets for the theater you want, you can also try mobile.fandango.com
