Using The Pause Feature To Dial Extensions In Windows Mobile

Ed Hansberry of PocketPCThoughts has posted a nice undocumented tip about Windows Mobile 6, where you can add pauses in the saved phone numbers of your contacts. This will let you call people who’s phone numbers include extensions by simply using Microsoft Voice Command or speed dialing. Unfortunately this excellent feature does not play nice with Outlook 2007 as you’ll see in his post.

I actually saw the “Insert Pause” and “Insert Wait” commands recently, but didn’t really know what to do with them. You can also just type the letter “p” or “w” in the phone number field of your regular contacts program if you want to insert a pause or wait command when dialing. This could also be useful for dialing certain numbers with a calling card.
