The Next-Generation PDA – 4 years later

Brandon came accross this Microsoft Press Release from April 19, 2000. That was the day Microsoft announced the immediate availability of the Pocket PC in New York’s Grand Central Station. I remember it well. Microsoft used the new Pocket PCs in demonstrations showcasing their wireless, enterprise and cutting-edge gaming and video capabilities. “It’s an amazing time in mobile computing, and we’re just getting started,” Ballmer said. “Technology is innovating at a rapid pace, and the …

Pen Optimized Skin for Longhorn

There’s a screen shot photograph on Paul Thurott’s SuperSite for Windows that shows a Pen Optimized Skin for Longhorn-era Tablet PCs. The only real innovative features added are the integration of Bluetooth, WiFi, and GSM/GPRS. They’ve also gotten a little smaller. …

RANT: Why I still hate the new Pocket PC Inbox

For example, Inbox versions prior to 2002 could function with an Outlook Add-in called Windows CE Inbox Transfer. The Inbox Transfer add-in gave you the ability to selectively transfer/copy email messages between any folder/account on your pocket PC and …
