A couple weeks ago I posted about a new change from Windows Mobile 5 Professional to Windows Mobile 6 Professional where the ability to enter a custom number of days to download email messages has been removed from Windows Mobile 6. Now you’re limited to a finite number of options in the Account Options dialogs. The biggest problem is that there are no other options between 7 days and 30 days.
Luckily, I have found a solution! The bad news is that this only works with IMAP server accounts and not POP3 accounts. After you’ve set up an IMAP email account, go to Menu>Tools>Manage Folders. The Manage Folders dialog lets you set which folders on the IMAP server will sync with your device. Tap & Hold on the Inbox folder until the context sensitive menu appears. Then select “Folder Options…”
Ta Da!! The old “Download messages from the last __ days” option is still there and you can enter any number of days you want. Not only that, but it works perfectly!
Incidentally, you can also set your Sent folder to sync a different number of days from the Manage Folders dialog.
I don’t know why this original option was removed from Windows Mobile 6’s account options dialogs, but I’m glad it’s at least still there and hidden for the IMAP accounts.
