Eariler today we saw a tweet from Daniel Egan announcing that the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace is now open to all registered developers. Previously, they were only accepting submissions from about 2000 developers who applied for early approval. The idea was to keep it managed for a while to make sure the app approval and update process would run smoothly. It’s a good thing they did, too because as early-adopters, we noticed a few bugs with updates to things like the HTC Hub apps. Hopefully all of that is fixed now and the Marketplace app submissions can proceed full speed!
What does this mean for the rate at which we’ll see new apps appearing in the Marketplace? During the testing phase, we saw about a hundred new apps per workday. Now that the system is presumably automated, we expect to see a higher rate of app approval. How many new apps do you think will start appearing per day now that the Marketplace is ready for everybody?
