Over the weekend, the Westchester, one of New York’s trendy suburban malls, had a two-day fashion event as part of the “Simon Fashion NOW” mall tour designed to show off many of the stylish products available in its stores. Of course, you would expect to see new outfits from the likes of LOFT, J. Jill, Victoria’s Secret, White House | Black Market, Gap, Anne Taylor, Tommy Hillfiger, Eileen Fisher, Juicy Couture, Bebe, Banana Republic, Cache, Hugo Boss, and other clothing stores that have shops in this particular mall. They were all there with their own little fashion shows, but there’s also a Microsoft Store in this mall and they decided to take part in the event as well. Microsoft’s fashion show naturally focused on the mobile electronic gadgets and accessories that many of us always carry around.

While promoting tech products this way certainly wasn’t Microsoft’s idea (they simply agreed to take part in this particular event organized by the Mall’s owners)… It was actually quite a refreshing departure from the normal ways that many mobile gadgets are announced. There were no boring speeches, or presentations, or handshaking, or sorely unfunny humor attempts, or tap dancing kids like we usually see.
How would you like it if technology product companies introduced new products in the same way fashion designers introduce new products?
