Orb Networks has announced a new streaming media service that lets you access your home Media Center or Wndows XP desktop system’s media library through a web based interface and then stream the content over the internet. So you’ll be able to listen to your entire music library, watch your recorded TV shows, watch videos, look at photos, schedule programs to be recorded, even watch live TV. The Orb service will work on any mobile device that supports Windows Media Player or Real Player.
It’s hard to believe that this would work well at all on a GPRS connection, but see for yourself… there’s a Sample Account that you can try out. There’s also a free 2 month trial. I was very surprised at the quality of the streaming video over GPRS on my imate JAM! The service will cost $9.99/mo or $79.99/yr.
