PC World Lies About Windows Phone 7?

In case you were wondering if we had read Galen Gruman’s “Microsoft Disaster” article regarding Windows Phone 7, we had, and we noticed at least one glaring error. Galen Gruman wrote:

“You can’t select ranges of text (much less copy or cut them); what you can do in Word and OneNote is essentially limited to jotting down some characters and adding formatting such as boldface, one word at a time.”

Of course, this is totally false. You can very easily select multiple lines and ranges of text in Word, OneNote, Excel, and even PowerPoint. The full selections can be formatted, commented on, or deleted. You may have already seen proof of this in our video here.

The article is high-traffic click-bait and it’s already been posted twice on PC World, here and here, while the original is on InfoWorld, here. Granted the title of this post is a little sensationalized too, but at the very least an obvious mistake was made. We’ve tried contacting both the author and editors of the magazines in order to inform them about the error, but haven’t seen any results or even acknowledgment.

Galen has published numerous articles labeling Windows Phone 7 as a disaster and they’re usually filled with inaccurate information. You’ve seen one of his previous articles debunked back in July by Windows Mobile Connection and again by Paul Thurrott. Joe from Your Tech Minds has a rebuttal for this latest article as well.

Obviously Galen Gruman is not very experienced with Windows Phone 7 especially when it comes to Office Mobile. Honestly, it sounds like he has a personal vendetta against Windows Phone 7. Have you noticed any other points in his article that either don’t make sense, offer no details, or are simply incorrect?
