I got a new T-Mobile Shadow last week shortly after its release and have been getting to know it a bit. A few first impressions: the new animated home screen does more than I expected! First of all, the notifications section shows large contact photos for emails and text messages that you’ve received. Very nice! Also, the album-art-displaying Media Player home screen interface is very cool.
One thing to keep in mind when reading other reviews (before ours is finished), when you boot this up even after the home screen appears, the device may seem quite slow. This is because the T-Mobile software is checking your SIM card to see if it is MyFaves enabled. If you do have MyFaves, it will change the Home screen and programs folders to add support. If you don’t, it will remove the MyFaves customizations so you don’t have to look at them. This is a great usability enhancement, but as noted, it does slow down the initial boot up.
