What if HTC released a triple-boot Windows Phone 7, Windows Mobile 6.5, and Android all-in-one phone? We already know that the HTC HD2 is one of the hacker dream phones. It can run pretty much any build of Android, Windows Mobile 6.x, and now even Windows Phone 7. Of course, officially it was only ever released running Windows Mobile and running Windows Phone 7 on it can be very limiting since you can’t legally get all of the great Live services associated with that OS. What if HTC made a phone that included multi-boot partitions and an OS-choosing bootloader where you could switch to whichever operating system you felt like using simply by rebooting the phone?
You could boot to Android when you feel like using Google Maps or playing Angry Birds. You could boot to Windows Phone 7 when you feel like using Zune Pass or Xbox LIVE games. You could boot to Windows Mobile when you need to work with Exchange Tasks, access secure networks, or sync eWallet passwords. Of course it would cost more since HTC would need to pay license fees for 3 operating systems, but would it be worth it?
