Windows Mobile Still Waxing the iPhone

As reported by eWeek, Windows for Devices, and others, Microsoft’s partners shipped 4.5 million Windows Mobile devices during the first quarter of 2008, up 1.8 million units year over year.

Andy Lees, during his Windows Mobile Keynote from the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference, cited IDG figures showing that Apple sold only 1.7 million iPhones during the same quarter.

So in other words, Microsoft’s Windows Mobile sales INCREASED by more than the number of total iPhone sales.

Granted, even though Windows Mobile is in 2nd place for worldwide smartphone sales, it’s still dwarfed by Nokia’s Symbian, but that’s another story.
