When I first downloaded the “Local Concerts” app for Windows Phone 7, I expected it to simply show a listing of concerts showing near a specified location on certain days. Of course the app does do that pretty well, but what surprised me was that it also looks at my music library on the phone and shows me nearby, upcoming concerts by musicians that it knows I already listen to. For example, Brandon recently said to me, “Hey, you might like this band; Florence and the Machine.” So I hit the search button in the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace and downloaded an album. Then when I swiped to the “My Artists” section of this Local Concerts app, it tells me that band I just downloaded is playing a couple concerts in New York City next week.
Of course you can also search for shows or venues… search different locations… and see schedules for specific venues. So if you like to go to concerts, but don’t really have time to stalk and monitor all of your favorite band websites for tour schedules, this app does a really good job of letting you know that some one you like is going to play a concert near you pretty soon.
